Ginoguard PGB is an all-natural multi-functional ingredient system for self-preserving cosmetics. It is an effective broad spectrum preservative system and is composed of glycerides of C8-10 acids and Sophorolipids. The former is well established for its biostatic activity against bacteria and yeast while Sophorolipids is a biosurfactant consisting of acid and lactone parts in balanced proportion so as to give maximum bactericidal activity including yeast and fungus. The part Sophorolipids affects interfacial tension at the cell membrane of microorganisms improving the preservative activity of glycerides. Thus, Ginoguard PGB has a broad, balanced spectrum effect against gram +ve, gram –ve, yeast and mould fungi.
