We encourage Godrejites to volunteer their time through different programmes and initiatives. As part of our long-term volunteering platform, our volunteers have worked on projects ranging from developing a marketing strategy for an NGO to mentoring a child from a low-income background. Additionally, we facilitate day-long ground volunteering activities, and fundraising for disaster emergencies.
In 2019, our team members helped clean public spaces in line with our volunteering theme of eliminating single-use plastics. Together the team helped collect over 300 kgs of solid waste and recycle about 75 kgs of plastic waste.
In 2020, on a group level 1,320 Godrejites volunteered from their homes. We tweaked our volunteering week to focus on tiny tasks on sustainable living, hosted on the Aimeo app that could be done from anywhere and at any time. Across the Group, of the 56 tasks we hosted on the app, each volunteer on average completed 28 tasks. During this week, we helped save 67,560 litres of water, 13,658 kWh of electricity, and 2,735 kg of waste. We also got healthier, as we collectively burned 177,500 calories and took time off for self-care.Giving Back- the socially distanced way
Our team members drive the celebrations and spread awareness about the effects of our actions on the environment. Godrejites organise tree plantation drives around communities of our manufacturing plants, cleanliness drives in collaboration with local panchayat and municipal corporations, and awareness sessions in local schools among other activities. In 2019, over 260 of our team members participated and helped take us one step closer to achieving our sustainability goals. Whereas in 2020, we hosted a webinar on how individuals can connect with the nature around us and hosted a photography, and quiz contest. Over 800 Godrejites participated over the week.
In 2019, our Ambernath team members fundraised to support a local orphanage and helped strengthen their food supply. The team also interacted and engaged with the 84 kids of the orphanage.
In 2020, Our 72 Godrejites across the group participated in Daan Utsav though one-time donations, buying hand-made products from our NGO partner, participating in awareness session webinar, volunteering and signing up for Workplace Giving and supporting our NGO partners with a fixed monthly donation.
With contributions made by our team members and matching grants from the Godrej group of companies, we provide recovery support and resettlement development. In 2019, we provided support for the Maharashtra flood relief efforts by supporting repairs and reconstruction of schools and anganwadis. In the past, we contributed for the Kerala flood relief by providing permanent housing to the affected, the Assam and the Gujarat flood relief efforts by providing emergency supplies and transitional housing, the Nepal earthquake relief by providing clean water, sanitation and housing, the Chennai flood relief fund by providing immediate supplies support, the Uttarakhand flood relief and the Kashmir flood relief by contributing to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
This year, all our efforts were directed towards COVID-19 response in communities around our manufacturing plants and offices.Read
